First-ever CVSD School Board meeting - Wed 9/7 6 PM at CVU

The organization of the newly formed Champlain Valley School District (CVSD) will be held tomorrow at CVU at 6:00 PM.  This will be a short (45 min.) meeting of the electorate to swear in board members and act on several operational items.
CSSU - to be replaced by the CVSD in July 2017
Here is a short note from our CSSU Superintendent Elaine Pinckney explaining this transition:

"This will be the final year of our association as Chittenden South Supervisory Union.  After ten years and three separate study committee reviews and recommendation from the most recent study committee, the communities of Charlotte, Hinesburg, St. George, Shelburne and Williston voted to form the Champlain Valley School District.  At the school level, there will be very little difference in our operations.

In fact, most people will not notice any difference. We have had coordinated, unified curriculum and assessment and professional development for the past 6-10 years. We have worked as a cohesive team to ensure that all students in all of our preK-8 schools have the same rigorous curriculum and engaging learning opportunities. None of this will change. The change that will occur over the course of this year will be at the governance level.

On September 7 the newly elected CVSD board will be organized as a formal entity and will begin its transition work. This will include the development of the 2017-18 budget. On July 1, 2017, this board will be fully operational. Meanwhile, the local boards will remain in effect as they monitor the current year’s budgets and programs. We will be updating you regularly as we transition form CSSU to CVSD."
New initials - but same mission - great education for the students of our communities!
