Red Ribbon Week at SCS

Today marks the kick-off of our Red Ribbon Spirit Week - an annual drug and alcohol awareness campaign that is celebrated in schools nationwide.  At SCS the week is organized by our Connecting Youth (CY) Project LEAD team - a volunteer group of students who meet weekly during lunch to plan this and other activities throughout the year to help keep SCS a safe and drug-free place for everyone.   LEAD stands for Leadership Education the Anti-Drug - and it is sponsored by our Student Assistance Professional Amy Sayre and our Middle School Counselor Rachel Petraska.

For the week they have organized a daily theme that includes the opportunity to include some not so typical wardrobe choices such as:

Monday Pajama Day - "Life without drugs is a dream."
Tuesday Ninja Day - "Be stealthy against drugs."
Wednesday Team Color Day - (Winton: Blue, Alpha: Pink, Holden: Green)
                 "Stay united against drugs."
Thursday Athletic Day - "Run, jump, and dodge drugs."
Friday Wear Red Day - "Let's celebrate a drug free life!"

The national theme this year is YOLO - which is an acronym for   "You only live once so take good care of your body and make healthy choices"

The week will conclude with a Middle School Activity night at SCS from 7-9 PM on Friday.   This event is only for currently enrolled SCS students, an opportunity for them to enjoy a great celebration with their friends dancing to a DJ, playing games such as ping pong, volleyball or dodgeball in the gym or simply hanging out with snacks in the cafeteria.    Certainly going to be more pictures to come throughout the week!
