SCS Wins Way to Go Statewide Environmental Challenge - grand prize is a free Solar Tracker!!

Many of our SCS middle school teams take on a community service project, and this past season the cross country team chose to enter our school in the Way to Go challenge.   This statewide event encourages students to either walk, bike or take the school bus to school in order to cut down carbon emissions from family vehicle transport.    Over the two week competition period our school recorded the highest % participation of any school in the state - winning the "Carbon Cup" competition.   This entered us into a drawing to win an All-Earth Solar Tracker - and we also won that, a prize that will be installed over the coming weeks saving us upwards of $2,000 per year in electrical costs.   SCS will be hosting the statewide awards ceremony in conjunction with a special "Walking Wednesday" event on December 7.   We welcome everyone to join us and help celebrate our new tracker.

Here is the official press release for the Way to Go Challenge
