Perhaps someone in your family got a new pair of shoes as a gift this past week - if so don't throw that old pair away just bring them into the office and put them in the Soles4Souls collection box that is in our main office. This is an independent project organized by one of our Alpha 7th graders to help him demonstrate the transferable skill of Responsible and Involved Citizenship. Below is a note that came to me from Riley this week:
Hi, I am Riley Bates and I am hosting a shoe drive through the organization Soles4Souls. Please consider donating your used shoes to people in need. Here is a little bit about the organization I am hosting through.
Soles4Souls is a not for profit global social enterprise committed to fighting poverty through the collection and distribution of shoes and clothing. The organization advances its anti-poverty mission by collecting new and used shoes and clothes from individuals, schools, faith-based institutions, civic organizations and corporate partners, then distributing those shoes and clothes both via direct donations to people in need and by provisioning qualified micro-enterprise programs designed to create jobs in poor and disadvantaged communities. Since it began, Soles4Souls has distributed more than 26 million pairs of shoes in 127 countries. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Soles4Souls is committed to the highest standards of operating and governance. Please visit www.soles4souls.org for more information. - Soles4Souls
Thanks for considering taking part in my shoe collection drive. If you have any questions I can be reached at email@example.com. Happy New Year -
