Vacation? This was a work week!

While some of us were enjoying sleeping in or sipping some eggnog - our school maintenance team was hard at work making sure the entire building looks great as we head into 2017.   We so appreciate Facility Director Chris Giard and our custodial team of Bob Miller, Bart Mattson, Randy Mushtare and Dan Quesnel - not only do they pick up after the 850 of us who live in the building every day but then they go and patch things up every break to keep up our reputation as one of the cleanest schools in the state (yes that is what we often hear from guests).
Chris and his John Deere make quick work of our many snow drifts

There was enough work to do that we even had special cameo appearances over the break from Mike Hulvey and Travis Giard - painters extraordinaire!  The list of work this team cranked out includes:

  • five new sinks installed in our kindergarten classrooms - hopefully clean hands will cut down on the winter sniffles!
Rue's new sink - each K classroom now has one of their own

  • a fresh coat of paint for the B Wing - along with a racing stripe to coordinate with the developing color scheme for the new renovations
Nothing like a fresh coat of paint on the walls and some wax on the floor to make things shiny and bright!
  • fresh coat of shiny wax in each of the hallways and the cafeteria - you can see your own reflection
Cafeteria with some new shine - can't wait to add some new windows as part of the renovation work this summer!

  • nearly a dozen heat control valves replaced so that classrooms are neither saunas or iceboxes
  • snow cleared from every exit and parking lot - there's a job that never quite done
So if you see these guys looking not quite as refreshed as some of the rest of us at school - give them a big pat on the back of thanks for the hours they put in over "vacation!"    School is ready to open - and we look forward to showing off everything on Tuesday.
