SCS LEAD Team visits Montpelier for Prevention Day

Eighteen LEAD students (Leadership Education the Anti-Drug) had the opportunity to visit the Vermont Statehouse for Prevention Day, Wednesday, February 15th.  Students met with legislators to discuss local health education efforts and to help guide decision making at the state level. We had wonderful a guided tour of the Statehouse, including the Governor's office (since he was in Canada for the day).

While on the tour, Lt Governor David Zuckerman met with us in the Senate Chambers for about 15 minutes to discuss how the legislative process works.  We had lunch with Representatives from across the state and attended a press conference where "Prevention Champions" were given awards for their dedication to this important work.

We closed out our extraordinary day by witnessing the daily devotional and introduction of bills from the Queen's Balcony in the House Chambers.
