Remember winter - 6th grade cross country skiing unit celebration at Sleepy Hollow

The last two days before break, our 6th graders were treated to a couple great days of skiing at Sleepy Hollow Nordic Ski Center in Huntington.  The day was the culmination of 5 weeks working with the Justin Giebel, the Outreach Coordinator from the Catamount Trail Association who had partnered with their teacher Kelly Spreen to bring over skis for weekly cross country lessons every Friday.   The weather didn't always cooperate and a few weeks were more running than skiing, but in the end we all had a great day of skiing on the ups and downs at Sleepy Hollow.    We appreciate the partnership with CTA and as these pictures clearly show it was a great final day of learning for all!

After the first little loop - it was on the real hills for all who were up for the challenge
Conquering that first hill

Getting untangled is always a bit of a challenge
Another strategy for dealing with getting back on your feet :-)

Well earned snack time at the end of the ski
