Pancakes and a long jump pit - busy Sunday for 8th grade community service

Two of our 8th grade community service projects had big days on Sunday.   To kick things off Laragh and Joyce hosted their Alzheimer's Awareness Pancake Breakfast - attracting close to 100 hungry folks to enjoy their homecooked breakfast of pancakes, eggs and home-fried potatoes.   What a great way to spend a sunny Sunday morning - and all for a good cause.  We have not totaled up the funds raised but it is safe to say the girls definitely will be making a donation of several hundred dollars to the Alzheimers Association.   Thanks to everyone who attended.

One of many happy customers registering for the pancake breakfast and the Alzheimers Association raffle
Nigel and Mackenzie also were able to complete their new long jump pit this morning - thanks to a donation and deliver of gravel and sand from Linden Land Group our track team will be able to actually for the first time ever be able to practice their long and triple jump techniques into a real sand pit.    Sure looks great - and thanks again to Breadloaf Construction for their donation of the initial excavation work.

Thanks to the Marcus and Wormser families for their support in getting the project completed
Here are a few more shots from the day - thanks everyone for making it a Community Service Sunday at SCS :-)

Mackenzie and Nigel - our long jump pit and dance organizers extraordinaire

Laragh and Joyce celebrating a successful pancake breakfast - way to organize!
The first layer was a few yards of drainage gravel - not so much fun to shovel and spread

The last step was building a cover to keep animals and leaves out of our nice new sand box

A great support team showed up to help with the breakfast - thanks everyone!
