CVSD announces the hiring of Allison Bancroft as new SCS CoPrincipal

Bancroft Named Shelburne PreK-4 Co-Principal

Ms. Alison Bancroft has been appointed PreK-4 Co-Principal at Shelburne Community School.  Ms. Bancroft will begin her leadership duties on July 1, 2017 and will join the administrative team of Scott Sivo, Lead Principal, and Peggy Sue VanNostrand, Special Education Administrator.

PTO Co-President Courtney Tharpe who served on the search committee commented, "We are truly excited to have Alison on board and feel that she will bring so much passion, enthusiasm and thoughtfulness to everything she does. We look forward to welcoming her to the SCS family!"

Prior to finding her passion for education, Bancroft received a BA from Ohio State University in Residential Interior Design. She has most recently served as Literacy Coach and English Language Arts Teacher in Bakersfield, VT.  Her previous experiences include teaching kindergarten at Richford Elementary School.  She is well versed in the programs and systems implemented in the Shelburne Community School.

Superintendent Elaine Pinckney warmly welcomes Bancroft. “I am delighted to welcome Alison Bancroft to the Shelburne Community School and to the leadership team of the Champlain Valley School District. Alison’s energy, enthusiasm, and passion for education will be a wonderful complement to the existing leadership team in Shelburne at in the Champlain Valley School District.”

Kari Ahern, SCS faculty member and search committee participant, looks forward to Alison’s experience and enthusiasm for implementing innovative curriculum and establishing dynamic learning environments. “We are confident that Alison will be a dynamic leader for our students and teachers, and will be a great asset for the school community.”

Bancroft, a South Burlington resident, is excited to join the Shelburne Community School team.

"I am thrilled to be joining the Shelburne Community School this year as a member of the leadership team! I am looking forward to meeting and getting to know everyone; students, staff, faculty, and community members over the next few months. My vision is to be part of a proactive learning community where we encourage, support, and celebrate growth of all learners as individuals and as a community. The 2017-2018 school year is going to be a wonderful year full of exploration and learning!"
