Hello 5th-8th Grade Families,
In Skills4Life, our SEL (Social Emotional Learning) program, we started the school year using the Start With Hello elementary and middle school prevention programs. These programs focus on teaching children how to be more socially inclusive and connected.
Start With Hello asks students, educators, parents, and guardians to take steps in the classroom, the cafeteria, recess, and other times in their day to be inclusive and connected.
For the past 5 weeks we have been exploring social isolation - what is is, what it feels like, where it happens, and what we can do about it. We have also been exploring how to make connections with the people around us. We have done some reflecting writing, cartooning, and engaging in activities to help all of us (students and adults) find new connections with each other that we didn't realize existed.
We have attached the family brochure for your reference and information. Thank you for talking about this important topic with your student!
