SCS FoodSmart Taste Test - January 15, 2020



For January’s FoodSmart Taste Test we will travel to Japan on Wednesday 1/15!

Megan Maynard’s 1st Graders will prepare Miso Soup that will be served during lunch.

In Japan, miso soup is a central dish of the traditional Japanese breakfast. The soup has been a favorite for many centuries and is usually drunk directly from the bowl, though the solid ingredients are eaten with chopsticks. (We will skip those 😉)

Miso paste is a fermented soybean paste that gives the soup its unique flavor. We will prepare our miso soup vegetarian style with vegetable broth, scallions, nori (dried seaweed), tofu and of course miso paste.
