SCS CY Mentoring is ON this school year!

In light of so many changes to our normal school year, we feel tremendously fortunate to be able to continue our school-based CY Mentoring Program throughout the CVSD.

Mentoring pairs resumed their meetings at SCS in person in September. It was truly a delight to see the middle school mentees reconnect with their mentors, whom they hadn't seen since early March.  Pairs seemed to pick up right where they left off, enjoying walks around the school grounds and outdoor sports on fine-weather days, then moving into the spacious mentoring room as the cooler and rainier weather returned.  Indoors pairs enjoy crafts, foosball, board games, slime-making, and decorating Halloween cupcakes!

Not all of our mentees are in-person this year at SCS; students in the VLA are meeting with their mentors remotely via Google Meet, and learning new ways to connect!

Who is in our program?  Mentors are dynamic volunteers from the community who enjoy spending 45" each week with a middle school student.  Mentees are amazing middle schoolers, nominated by their teachers, families, or themselves.  The goal of our program is the building of a positive relationship between each student and a caring adult.
